We Finally Have Curtains (And I'm Absolutely Obsessed)
Let me paint you a picture. Most rooms in our home had its own little window treatment horror story. In the lounge: the most tired, ripped, sad blue curtains you've ever seen in your life. The kind that make you cringe every time you walk into the room. These were pulled down the day we settled on our house (over 400 days ago!). In the master bedroom: a pair of ugly yellow curtains that did absolutely nothing in terms of blocking light. And in Elsie's room, that she recently moved into? No window covering at all - which is less than ideal when the sun's still up at bedtime.
We'd been making do for a while but I knew eventually I'd need to get them sorted. The thought of finding something I actually loved felt overwhelming - curtains are one of those things that can completely transform a space, and getting it wrong felt expensive and stressful.
Why I Chose Tuiss
I'd been doing a deep dive into made-to-measure curtains and blinds for a while, bookmarking and abandoning what has felt like hundreds of tabs - then eventually I found Tuiss. What won me over was the ability to order 20 free fabric samples! A complete game changer when you're trying to match colours to walls, furniture, and the vibe you've got going on in different rooms. We also have royal blue carpet running through the house, so finding curtains that complemented rather than clashed with it was a real priority. There's nothing worse than committing to a fabric online only for it to look completely different in your actual space - especially when you've got a bold colour on the floor that everything else needs to work with.
The samples arrived quickly and the quality was immediately obvious. Soft, substantial, the kind of fabric that just feels luxurious. I was sold.
What We Ordered
We had three rooms to sort: our master bedroom, the lounge, and Elsie's room - and each one needed something a little different.
Bedroom & Lounge: Double Track Sheers
For both our bedroom and the lounge, I went with a double track system - which I honestly think is the most elegant window treatment you can do. Layering sheers with blockout curtains gives you so much flexibility depending on the time of day and the mood you're going for.
We chose the Arlo Modern Grey S-Fold with blockout lining as the main curtain. The S-Fold heading is amazing - that soft, flowing wave of fabric just looks so considered and grown-up. Paired with the Thea Coconut sheers, it creates this beautiful layered look that feels genuinely luxurious.
For the install, we used face fix in the bedroom and ceiling fix in the lounge - the ceiling fix was the only option that worked for our lounge setup, but honestly both methods give you that same beautiful floor-to-ceiling look. Whichever fixing method suits your space, you won't be losing out on the effect.
Elsie's Room: Twill Stripe Blush Roman Blind
For Elsie's room, I wanted something a bit different - softer and more playful, but still beautiful. The Twill Stripe Blush Roman Blind with blockout lining was exactly what I had in mind. The blush tones are so pretty and it folds up so neatly during the day. Blockout lining was non-negotiable for her, and it works perfectly.
The Process
I'll be honest - I was a little nervous about ordering made-to-measure anything online. You're measuring yourself, choosing your fixings, and trusting that it's all going to arrive and fit. But the Tuiss website makes it so easy to walk through each step, and everything arrived exactly as expected.
Installation was genuinely fast and straightforward - my husband and I did it ourselves. No dramas, no fights (well, minimal), and the results were immediate. I stood back after hanging everything and felt that rare, deeply satisfying feeling of this is exactly what I imagined it would look like.
The Result
Walking into our bedroom and lounge now genuinely makes me happy in a way I didn't expect curtains could. The rooms feel finished, warm, and so much more like home. And Elsie's room? The blind completes the overall look.
I'm so glad I waited for the right thing rather than rushing into something I'd regret.
If you're in the same boat (cringing at your current curtains, or staring at bare windows), I really can't recommend Tuiss enough. Start with their free fabric samples - order 20, live with them in your space for a few days, and you'll know exactly what you want.
Thank you so much to Tuiss Blinds for making my curtain dreams an actual reality.
